The Intranet model can greatly simply the day to day tasks relating to the administration and running of the business, this can take the form of providing document templates, contact lists, mailing lists, easy to use search and review areas, downloads, centralised network administration etc.
There is almost no limit to the number of useful functions that can be driven via a well designed intranet. This model is very scalable and would provide less technical users with an easy to use interface that does not require significant resources to support. It also reduces the number of applications that the client workstation must run as all functions can be accessed via their web browser application.
