Website design brief for eFlowers

With several shops on the east coast of Ireland, Arbour Blooms decided to launch an online shop for their extensive range of flowers and gifts.

Using our webshop commerce model, developed by Fanore Software & Total Retail Control the site relies heavily on high quality images to ensure that customers can view detailed images of the various arrangements and products.

With a careful eye on a wider web strategy, we consulted with the team at Arbour Blooms to define the following web design brief for phase one:

  • Customers should be able to access the product catalogue using a variety of menu options
  • whenever possible we should use AJAX and Dynamic HTML (DHTML) to avoid unecessary page loading
  • Using scrolling panels, we provide access to an entire range of products with the minimum of up and down scrolling
  • Customers need to have the facility to specify the date on which they wish to receive their order
  • The system automatically applies any premium for same day services if required
  • Although online payment capture is supported, using the RealEx capture service, we also provide customers with an alternative, customers can choose to arrange payment for their orders by phone

The website was launched in September 2010, and we will be continuing to work with Arbour Blooms to add features to the website design so that customers can engage confidently and use the site as a place to shop for gifts.
